About

Andy McKee is one of the world’s finest acoustic guitarists and it’s evident from the accolades he’s received throughout his career. It’s his youthful energy, attention to song structure and melodic content that elevates him above the rest.

Andy McKee entertains both the eye and the ear as he magically transforms the steel string guitar into a full orchestra via his use of altered tunings, tapping, partial capos, percussive hits and a signature two-handed technique. His unique style introduced an entire generation of budding guitarists to fingerstyle guitar playing, which resulted in the reader’s of Guitar World magazine voting his album “Art of Motion” as the 3rd most important guitar album of the 2000s.

McKee’s crossover success has helped him to achieve millions upon millions of YouTube viewers, underscoring his emergence as one of today’s most unique and influential artists. His song “Drifting” became one of the first YouTube viral videos with over 60 million views. He has been featured as a cover story in both Acoustic Guitar Magazine in the U.S. and Acoustic Magazine in the UK.

He also curates his own annual guitar retreat called Musicarium. McKee’s tour dates have taken him to over 40 different counties through Europe, Asia, Australia and North America, including tours with legendary acts from Dream Theater to Prince.

“Andy McKee has been launched into the upper stratosphere of the world’s very best acoustic players, and for good reason. His densely melodic and percussive style is mesmerizing to say the least.”

“In my humble opinion, Andy is the most innovative and exciting fingerstyle guitarist to emerge in years… Andy has developed a mastery of the 6-string guitar and the harp guitar that leaves me speechless. He is the most textural player of the instrument since Michael Hedges, and he creates sonic architecture worthy of the great modern composers for any instrument.”

Our Story

Our Story

Hello! I’m Michael MacManus, the founder of Concerts in America.

Originally from Australia and now residing in Seoul, South Korea, I’ve spent the last decade organizing concert events, first with the Melbourne Guitar Festival and later as Concerts Australia. My passion for guitar music has been the consistent theme in my career!

My journey into concert production began as a hobby while I was a university student studying classical guitar. Back then, Melbourne lacked classical guitar concerts, so I took it upon myself to change that. I started organizing small concerts, which not only allowed me to enjoy live performances but also to learn from the visiting guitarists. What started as a modest series evolved into a national concert series and a yearly guitar festival featuring international artists.

Professionally, I performed with the Melbourne Guitar Quartet and earned a Master’s Degree in Classical Guitar Performance. However, my career took an unexpected turn in July 2023 when I contracted bacterial meningitis, resulting in transverse myelitis with extensive scarring and lesions on my spinal cord. This left me paralyzed from the chest down. Though I’ve regained most of my movement, I can no longer play guitar professionally, but I continue to practice.

Today, I’m fully dedicated to my role as a concert organizer and promoter. Having organized about 50 concert events in America, I decided to establish my own company here in 2024.

We’re kicking off with a concert featuring Andy McKee, who was one of my teenage idols. Watching his performances on YouTube during my youth was mesmerizing, and it feels surreal to now organize a concert for him under my new banner.

I invite you to join us for what will surely be a memorable concert. It’s more than an event; it’s the beginning of a new chapter both for me and for the artists I am passionate about bringing together.
